Deddington
Masterclass
- ICT in RE
Deddington have been using ICT to support their teaching of Religious Education in a variety of ways. Below are just two examples:
Virtual
Synagogue
Five Pillars of Islam Display
During
the Spring Term, Year 4 have been studying Judaism in RE. In the past, children
have visited the synagogue in Oxford, but this year, due to constraints on
time a visit was not possible. In consultation with the RE co-ordinator I
planned to use a virtual tour of a synagogue so that the children could experience
the next best thing to a proper tour.
The site used was Robert
Hitchams Primary School. There are several virtual tours on this site
and I thought it was very good.
The children have gained a lot of information about a synagogue and its' special
features and in conjunction with our recently purchased artifacts their RE
experience was greatly enriched.

Once you have visited the synagogue, you could also take a look around the Mosque and then click on the Educhurch link to find out about different Christian churches. |
What did the children think about the tour? Below are some examples of the
reports the children produced, plus some of their comments about the tour.

"I think the website was superb because it was like you were actually at the synagogue. I give it 10/10". |

The KS1 children have also been using their ICT skills to create this fantastic window display about the Five Pillars of Islam.
