Bishop Carpenter Primary School

Virtual Tour

Bishop Carpenter Primary School is located in the North Oxfordshire village of North Newington, just a couple of miles from Banbury (seen here on the extreme right of the picture).

Bishop Carpenter School is a 4 class primary school whose catchment area is the villages of North Newington, Shutford and Broughton.
The school was founded in 1854 following a bequest in the will of Christobella, Viscountess Saye and Sele. It was completely rebuilt in 1987 and has been extended on 4 separate occasions since that date.

Our tour begins in the lane outside the school:
The school consists of an old building plus a newer building connected to it. Both can be seen in the right hand picture which shows the lane in which the school is situated. At the entrance of the school there are benches where children can sit and eat and where parents can wait at home time.

Inside the newer part of the school is a large hall, used for assemblies as well as PE and other activities:

Inside the school are the classrooms:

And also the dedicated ICT suite.
On the hill above the school is the playing field, used for football and other sporting activities. From here you can look down onto the roof of the school.
